Title:  Key Account Manager - Specialty Channels

Due to an internal promotion, we’re on the look-out for a Key Account Manager for Specialty Channels – which includes The Warehouse Group, Distributors, Petrol and Convenience, and Costco.  This role had been created so the business could leverage the growth opportunities within these channels, so it’s a great role for someone to continue with the momentum created!   
Reporting to the General Manager - NZ, we’re looking for an Account Executive or experienced Territory Manager in the Specialty Channel, who is looking to develop their career in Account Management.  With strong brands to represent in these channels, you will have the autonomy to make an impact through driving growth and developing creative solutions for your customers whilst ensuring delivery of company targets.    You will be the custodian of existing relationships as well as seek out new business opportunities to expand our physical availability.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility for the full account management function serving the Specialty Channels.  This includes business planning, regular customer contact, program management, delivery of financial objectives & the execution of company, brand and category strategy within customer outlets
  • Develop & implement a business plan for the Speciality Channels including growth targets to accelerate Kellogg sales via the execution of category & brands plans
  • Ensure deliver of agreed budgeted Net Sales and profit goals are met through effective management of customer/business channels
  • Identify incremental channel opportunities & make recommendations to the business on potential expansion opportunities based on sound justifications 
  • Trade investment management & promotional effectiveness
  • Maximise customer marketing opportunities to add value
  • Initiate and develop effective working relationships to ensure support for the successful implementation of all marketing & customer promotional activity
  • Implementation & use of forecasting system, including coordination of the monthly national forecasts by products for the total assigned customer base  


Skills, experience and attributes to succeed in this role: 

  • Degree qualified with solid grounding in sales and/or marketing experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the consumer-packaged industry is essential, with a preference for prior sales management and specialty channel experience
  • Well-developed business acumen and commercial skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong negotiator to ensure win/win outcomes for customer and company
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve great outcomes
