Title:  Director, Research and Technology

In your role as Director, Research and Technology, you will partner cross functionally to invent, influence, and deliver top and bottom-line innovation.  Keeping the consumer at the heart of your work, you will collaborate with Brand Marketers, R&D peers, Engineering, Insights & Analytics, as well as Commercial and Category Strategy partners to deliver on business objectives, activate programs which drive competitive advantage, and create consumer relevant product design for our company leading product Pringles!  Our success will be shaped by you.  This is a Battle Creek, MI or Chicago, IL based opportunity working on a hybrid, work from home and in office model.

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Innovate – What’s the trend?  We will be looking to you to recommend and implement new technology for use in production or seeking opportunities to maximize efficient use of current corporate assets. Partner with Insights and Analytics and Innovation Marketing to spot new opportunities, address emerging challenges and plan for future success of the brands and categories we played in.
  • Team Leadership and Cross Functional Partnership – As the R&D lead, you’ll be coaching and influencing your team of food designers and packaging engineers to top performance, providing guidance to key stakeholders, and advocating for prioritization of business initiatives.  Collaboration is key and solid communication skills to communicate complex ideas to stakeholders, build consensus and ensure alignment towards shared goals.
  • Project Management Skills – You will direct R&D innovation and margin improvement projects through all phases of design through execution, keeping the team engaged and problem-solving challenges along the way. Strong planning and management skills to bring everything together.

 

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or Engineering, or a close related field. Master’s degree in Food Science or Engineering, or a closely related is preferred.
  • Deep technical competency in a food discipline, demonstrated expertise and record of accomplishments
  • Ability to work under ambiguous conditions with minimal direction and provide technical leadership that results in goal attainment and growth for the team
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills with the ability to influence through collaboration
  • Proven track record of leadership, business acumen, communication skills, and diplomacy
  • Successfully manages and balances multiple projects. Embraces and leads change. Proven track of delivering results driving topline and optimizing bottom line.
  • Proven track creating and implementing disruptive innovation, strong consumer and customer understanding to tailor product innovation strategy.
  • Use your strategic thinking, creative problem solving, and ability to provide guidance and direction to project teams
