Title: Finance Manager, Tax
As our Manager, Tax you will manage a variety of tax compliance tasks with a focus on technology and indirect taxes. This role includes; providing data for return preparation, issuing exemption certificates, managing and defending audits by governmental agencies, training system users as necessary, updating tax software, managing consultants, budgeting, acting as a key resource for questions relating to the taxability of any transaction, continuous monitoring of systems and processes to insure that required data remains available for reporting and audit purposes, and identifying and implementing sales and use tax planning strategies. The position may be involved in federal and state compliance & planning projects. Must have the ability to research complex tax issues and be proficient in interpreting and applying the tax law, regulations, and cases to specific transactions and factual situations.

HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Processes and Compliance: You will be responsible for internal and external department processes that might influence the federal, state and sales and use tax areas. This includes a thorough understanding of SAP and how it interacts with the tax software. You will be monitoring other systems and processes to ensure data is available for compliance and audits. You will work with external and internal departments to pull data from various systems to defend and support audits.
- Implementation: You will be responsible for managing a variety of tax compliance functions to ensure returns meet statutory requirements and tax planning objectives. You will be identifying, analyzing, and communicating tax savings or work efficiency measures. Responsible for prompt and accurate dissemination of tax information, policies, and issues to tax leaders and key decision makers. With great communication skills, the tax related financial information will be presented to others in a way that enhances company and business unit performance, reduces business risk, leverages opportunities, and facilitates implementation.
- Process Improvement: This role is responsible for prioritizing work plans as needed to meet deadlines and ensure work is accomplished accurately and efficiently. Includes managing external consultants during heavy work loads and specialized projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective results. In addition, must leverage staff skills and Company resources to carry out tax related functions. Must also ensure technology and processes are in place to accomplish tax functions in an accurate and value-added manner.
- Strategic Initiatives: Supports strategic decision making and tactical planning. This includes providing information and recommendations toward plans that maximize shareholder value, reduce tax liabilities, and ensure long-term company viability. Also involves monitoring the implementation of strategic and tactical initiatives to ensure effective and timely completion.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
- Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree, CPA, JD/LLM, MST, MBA preferred
- 5 to 8 years of related work experience
- Experience with tax software implementation
- Progressive Income Tax Experience in either the corporate or public accounting sector
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong technology skills with proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
