We have an opening for the right candidate to grow with us as a Data Engineer in Bucharest. The Data Engineer role will play a pivotal role in operationalizing the most-urgent data and analytics requirements for Kellogg’s digital business initiatives. The data engineer’s primary work would be in building, managing, and optimizing data pipelines and then moving these data pipelines effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers (business/data analysts and data scientists). The ideal candidate will be an experienced data pipeline builder, and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up.
The data engineer will be the key interface in operationalizing data from disparate systems into the newly acquired AWS platform,known within Kellogg as “Kortex”. Leveraging Kortex and enabling our key data sets in an efficient and planned manner is one of the key priorities for Kellogg IT globally. This role will require both creative and collaborative working within IT and the wider business.

 

HERE'S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Build data pipelines: Manage data pipelines that consist of a series of data flow stages: from data sources or endpoints of acquisition to integration to consumption for specific use cases. Architecting, creating and maintaining data pipelines will be a key responsibility for the Data Engineer.

AWS Services: Responsible for working with and optimizing existing ETL processes and data integration and data preparation flows and helping to move them in production using AWS and SAP Services such as EMR, Glue, SAP BODS, MS SQL, Oracle PL SQL.

Drive Automation: Responsible for using innovative and modern tools and techniques to automate data preparation and integration tasks. The successful candidate will drive automation through effective metadata management.

Collaborate across departments: Work in a close relationship with data science teams and with business data analysts in refining their data requirements for various data and analytics initiatives and their data consumption requirements.

 

YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
•    Highly skilled in SQL and knowledge and experience of other major scripting languages (Python, R)
•    Demonstratable skills and knowledge in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, PySpark etc
•    Knowledge and experience of AWS cloud services, with the golden opportunity to progress and develop the next gen tech stack - S3, EMR, Lambda, Glue, Redshift & Athena
•    Full understanding of large-scale data and query optimization techniques
•    Experience with ETL to data warehouse systems
•    Good knowledge of data orchestration tools like Nifi, AWS Step functions.
•    Experience in NoSQL, and RDBMS
•    Knowledge of cloud, distributed systems, and stream-processing systems.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related field
•    Minimum 5 to 7 years of requisite experience in the areas mentioned above.

PREFERRED:
•    Experience with predictive analytics tools like SAS, R and Machine Learning
•    SAP BODS
•    Understanding of SAP
•    Knowledge of Unix
