This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, creative  Food Product Developer to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on innovative projects in the Breakfast and Snacks categories. Our Research & Technology team develop new and improve existing products and processes by applying technical, food science and culinary skills.


Key role responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, organise and manage major and complex innovation and renovation projects simultaneously, whilst ensuring precise and appropriate documentation
  • Provide proactive, differentiating and cost-effective product development solutions as well as best practice, support and training across all product categories. Support innovation in the development of new ideas or new product platforms through  ideation sessions and bench top experimentation, along with the ability to effectively communicate these concepts.
  • Support labelling, nutritional, regulatory, quality and food safety efforts.
  • Evaluate ingredients and processing techniques to identify and commercialise product improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Provide technical guidance to our internal and external manufacturing sites
  • Identify, frame and pilot new business opportunities in all categories in conjunction with Marketing, Insights and Supply Chain.   

 

Skills, experience & attributes sought:
Coupled with the above, we’re looking for an individual who is super passionate about what they do with a strong desire to be a part of a team who want to deliver exciting new foods to the market.  You will need to be a self-starter who enjoys and thrives in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.  We’re a business that is strong on relationships and this role will see you working with multi-disciplinary teams on innovation and renovation projects.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification – in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry or related fields
  • Significant product development and implementation experience gained from the food industry.  Experience in cereal, snacks and/or baking is desirable. 
  • Knowledge and experience with ingredient functionality, product design and formulation, process technology and commercialisation
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of food chemistry, food processing and food functionality
  • Excellent attention to detail and project management skills to meet deliverables through the life cycle of projects, delivering on time and to the highest quality.
  • Strong organisation skills – you will work on a number of active and future projects at any one time so you will have the ability to ensure momentum on all projects  
  • Strong commercial and business acumen
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional teams, building strong relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Someone who is agile and resilient, a self-starter who enjoys a challenge
  • A passion for food and the food technology and innovation environment!
